Hmmmm
With a little trepidation and much excitement, I rather madly signed up last-minute for the Open University’s T189 Digital Photography course starting in May 2008.
Quite how I’m going to do it justice alongside two kids, a full-time, brain-squishifying job, editing my recently completed novel and moving house next week I’m not sure.
Still, it’ll keep me out of mischief I suppose. I should mention that I haven’t a clue what I’m doing, am fairly feeble-minded when it comes to technology and I quite like sheep, it would seem.
So, this first post marks yesterday’s beginner’s fumbles with the new camera (Canon PowerShot A720IS if you’re interested) and hopefully the start of yet another agonising addiction…

You’ve been for a walk with a new camera, haven’t you. I did a City & Guilds just before digital came into being … oh the orange glow of the darkroom. It’ll be interesting to watch your photography develop.
My top tip is: buy yourself a lightweight cheap tripod, they really help you relax while you fiddle with the camera settings and fret about the composition, and they’re indispensable for low light and night time photos. Enjoy yourself.

Monsieur Bobo, hello! Oh, I’ve always had notions of being a proper photographer with strips of film pegged up in a glowy room. The course I’m doing is sort of technical – twiddling with PhotoShop and whatnot – which sort of worries me. But hey ho, it should be fun. And at least I won’t be boring people with my piccies on the ‘real’ blog!
Thanks for the tripod tip…

All your piccies are lovely, Jen!
